Day 2 - Family, Friends, Food, Fun, and Finally...

Day 2 - Madison WI - Chardon, OH
599 miles

It was dark when we got to Madison, and still dark when we left the next morning as we made our way to Chardon, OH.

We try to stick to back roads and stay off the interstates, but when we are just trying to get from one place to another, we whip out our trusty IPass and cruise through the country.

At last count, Minnesota had 52 wineries, most hidden in the glacial hills of the state. Ohio has 144. and I think we passed each of them as we made our way to the Northeast part of the state.

We were so excited that FINALLY we were going to get to spend time with family and friends along out path and our first stop took us to my cousin, Yvonne, and her husband Gary's home, just outside of Cleveland.

They greeted us with a nice warm non-motel shower and an adult beverage.

After a fantastic homemade dinner, Yvonne and I had a great time visiting, comparing "Grandma and Grandpa stories"

and checking out family heirlooms. Sean and Gary played some sort of hockey board game that Sean coveted so much, and was thrilled when Gary sent him his very own board.

It was so great to be able to spend time with family. We look forward to plenty of visits in the years to come.
