Day 9 – Ft St John to Hinton
353 Miles
We had to admit that the scenery over the last couple days
wasn't really, well, interesting. As we rode toward Hinton, all that changed.
On the way, we crossed into Alberta.
42 States
7 Provinces/Territories
We stopped for lunch in Grand Cache, and saw an awful lot of people out for an afternoon jog through the mountains. We learned when we got to town that today was the Canadian Death Race. This 125 km race begins and ends on a plateau, but in between are three mountain summits and more than 17,000 feet of elevation change.
We continued toward our evening destination. Hinton is on the northern end of Jasper National Park on the Yellowhead Highway.
We ended up with
extra time at the end of the day to sit and relax and decompress before
starting the next leg of our journey.
I love the mama and baby elk....or whatever they are!
