Day 9 - Epic Al-Can Odyssey

Day 9 –  Ft St John to Hinton
353 Miles

We had to admit that the scenery over the last couple days wasn't really, well, interesting. As we rode toward Hinton, all that changed.

On the way, we crossed into Alberta.

This was the last state/province/territory sign we needed on this trip, which puts our count at:

42 States
7 Provinces/Territories

The scenery started to get mountainous again,

and full of wildlife.

We stopped for lunch in Grand Cache, and saw an awful lot of people out for an afternoon jog through the mountains. We learned when we got to town that today was the Canadian Death Race. This 125 km race begins and ends on a plateau, but in between are three mountain summits and more than 17,000 feet of elevation change.

We continued toward our evening destination. Hinton is on the northern end of Jasper National Park on the Yellowhead Highway.
We ended up with extra time at the end of the day to sit and relax and decompress before starting the next leg of our journey.
